Roslindale, MA Roslindale, MA Full-time Full-time $58,391 - $83,592 a year $58,391 - $83,592 a year School of Reentry Program Created in 2016 by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, the School of Reentry (SOR) is a 12-18 month residential school providing minimum security inmates an opportunity to maximize the end of their incarceration time immersed in education, personal, career and technical education training.
The mission of the school is to develop a growth mindset within Credible Messenger The goal of the Credible Messenger position is to provide support and resources as an individual returns to his/her community.
Regional assignments for this position will depend upon client needs and maybe shift periodically as participant needs change.
This will require the ability to perform research and develop partnerships with provider agencies to help these individuals with successfully accessing resources and services in their communities.
This position requires experience with reentry planning and the ability to navigate complex social service systems to deliver sound high-quality programming.
The ultimate goal is to assist the program participant in successful reintegration ultimately reducing recidivism rates in the Commonwealth.
Statement of Duties and Responsibilities The Credible Messengers Program seeks to work with incarcerated individuals within 120 days of release who have been identified most at-risk to recidivate.
The primary purpose of the Credible Messenger position is to provide reentry support and services prior to release and continued case management support for up to 1 year post-release.
Supports include individual and group reentry supports, individual and family case management, referral services as well as agency navigation services.
The Credible Messenger serves as a liaison that connects individuals with resources and opportunities that promote personal, educational, vocational, financial development and self-sufficiency.
Provide individual and group reentry planning to assist individuals in gaining insight into their challenges and to develop plans (housing, employment, family support, social/recreational, cultural) for reentry success; Provide case management, support and referral services upon release; case management including advocacy, outreach and engagement, self-help tools, recovery supports, transitional supports, and pre-crisis/crisis supports in home or community settings; Supports in home or community settings.
Supports may include accompanying individual to appointments when necessary; Develop and maintain relationships with agency partners (DOC, Parole, Probation, Courts, MassHire, DCF,RMV/DTA); Accurately and efficiently, document assessments, case notes and service delivery in an electronic case management system daily; Collaborate with DOC facility staff to identify and facilitate successful referral/intakes into the Credible Messengers Program; Collaborate with the development and production of recruitment and promotional material required.
This may include still image, video and audio recordings; Ability to work flexible hours required; Extensive travel throughout Massachusetts required.
Preferred Qualifications Highly organized person with excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.
Manager who can lead, strategize and integrate information and philosophy into an operational plan.
Ability to manage multiple projects across several agencies in a fast pace moving environment.
Excellent knowledge of Reentry Planning and working knowledge of treatment programs and support services for referrals.
Ability to exercise sound and quick judgement.
Strong problem solving skills.
Excellent communication skills to facilitate group sessions with clients who present various needs and challenges.
Excellent time and self-management skills.
Computer literate with the ability to quickly adapt to changing technology.
Experience Necessary Experience as a returning citizen from a Department of Corrections or House of Corrections in any state.
Cannot currently be on any form of supervision.
Must be at least 1 year from release.
Experience working with and/or mentoring at-risk populations.
In depth understanding of reentry programming and the needs of returning citizens.
Understanding of and/or personal experience with reentry needs, substance use disorder, homelessness, unemployment, and self-motivation.
Strong ability to make connections to educational, vocational, internship/apprenticeships, and employment opportunities.
Knowledge of career exploration, case management, internships and job search strategies.
Qualifications First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I.
A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the-required experience.
II.
A Graduate degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.
III.
A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
